  • Skills and the Labor Market

The skills-based transformation of the labor market in Groningen and North Drenthe is in full swing. We’re doing this in partnership with employers and in line with national trends. Will you join us in this important initiative?

By adopting a skills-based approach, employers are moving away—to a greater or lesser extent—from traditional job requirements, such as a specific degree or work experience. Instead, they look a step deeper at what someone knows, what someone can do, and how someone behaves.

You look at the skills that a candidate or employee has developed throughout their career (and life), can apply, and wants to continue developing.

As a result, both employers and employees discover different or additional opportunities. For example, not having a specific degree no longer has to be an obstacle. Employers see more than just a degree.

The skills-based approach offers you, as an employer, the following benefits:

  • A more targeted search for candidates.
  • More effective employee onboarding by focusing on specific skills.
  • Future-proof your business by investing in the development of the skills your company will need down the road.
